REI translates to mean Spiritual Wisdom or Spiritual Consciousness. The wisdom that comes from the Higher Self or God. It is all knowing and all being. It knows the cause of all problems and difficulties and knows what to do to heal them.

KI translates to mean Life Force and is the same as Prana in Sanskrit and Chi in Chinese. It is the non-physical energy that animates all living things. Whilst something is alive this life force is circulating through it and around it. After death, this life force departs. When the life force is low there will be a vulnerability to illness and when it is high there is a feeling of well being.

During a Reiki treatment, Reiki is channelled into the recipient by the practitioner placing his/her hands on the body in a sequence of positions, starting at the head.

For part of the time, a Reiki treatment works on the mind and the emotions, dealing with problems at even deeper levels.

The body and mind are assisted by the Reiki in healing themselves.

Reiki works on the whole person and creates peace, deep relaxation and a feeling of well being.

A treatment is performed whilst the recipient either lies down or is seated. There is no need to remove any clothing for a treatment.
